I absolutely love Halloween! I used to not get into it so much but now it is turning out to be one of my favorite holidays! I think because it is the beginning of the Holiday season to me! Anyways, just thought I would share! Happy Halloween!
So, I have been trying to teach myself how to sew since I've found soooo many things I want to make! My grandmother taught me a little about it when I was younger and I love making things so I got a sewing machine and started making simple things like cushions, etc. Being the geek that I am, I signed up for a sewing class and this is my next project. It's a throw blanket and I can't wait to see the finished product!
Well, I haven't blogged in over a month!!! Technically I have but not for this blog! So to all of my friends and followers (sadly, I only have 10 according to my little follower area :( ) I do write every so often on another blog! It's the company I work for 's blog (Paper So Pretty). Check it out! You may win something and if you're my friend, you probably have better odds :) ! Here's the link....
Anyways, I've been busy with work, the house, etc so not much time to keep up! This past weekend, I was in Dallas for Market and ooooohhhh weeeeee did I find some good stuff! And did I mention cheap!?! I swear I bought like a million necklaces, earrings, bracelets, headbands, etc. Cash and Carry is the BEST! I love seeing all of the different showrooms and booths! Especially all the home furnishings and Holiday Decor! So ready for Christmas!!!!! As a matter of fact, I think I'll turn some Christmas tunes on now! I found some of the most beautiful things. I loved the patterns and color scheme of these rugs....
You can't really see them that well in this pic but the colors are beautiful. I also think that this color scheme is so cute together. I don't know if I could pull this off or not though.
Love it! In the spare time that I've had (not much), I have been practicing on my sewing machine! I have soooo many projects I want to tackle but just can never seem to get around to it! I did recover an old stool that my mother in law gave me. Here it is...
I'm also in the process of redoing our master bedroom! This is taking much longer than I wanted because it took me forever!!!! to find a bedding set that I liked. I actually found one when I wasn't even looking! Here it is...
And yes, I got it on sale! Then used my last :( macy's gift card that we got for a wedding present plus macy's cash that we got from our registry! I only ended up spending $100!!!!! So the room will soon get painted a slate grey color and I'm accenting with turquoise and yellow. Love love love that color combo. I guess this blog is all about color combos that I like. I see a theme here. Anyways, enough for now! Go check out PSP's blog please! It would really help me out if my work blog could get as many followers as possible! Plus, I promise I'll post some good stuff :)
So now that it is Spring time, I am taking every opportunity I can to be outside! I have been working out in the yard at least one day every weekend and boy do I have some wicked tan lines. Oh well, I just love being outside!! This weekend, the weather was perfect so we went to Kemah with Kellen and Megan and went for a stroll on the boardwalk and then out on the boat! It was wonderful but I may have had one too many bloody mary's because when we got home, I was sick! Anyways, I can't wait to go back to Kemah and ride some of the rides. I love that stuff. Below are some pics....
Earlier this week, Chris and I went to an Astros game! It was fun to get out during the week but it makes me so tired the next day. But who am I kidding, I'm always tired!
Hmmm...what else to talk about?
Oh! I think I finally have Chris talked in to buying our dining room set! It's taken me forever but I think I may have won him over. SO this prob sounds a little dumb but let me give you some background info on the situation. When we moved into this house, his parents gave us all of this furniture/etc. to use until we got our own. Well....that translates into : Ashleigh hates all of this old furniture and wants it to be replaced as soon as possible! I would rather the dining room be empty than have what is in it now! Trust me...You would too! Maybe I'll post a pic of this ugly table later. So, how did I finally get Chris to break in? We were on the boat and I was telling Kellen and Megan about this horrific table when Kellen said, "Just get a new one Chris so you don't have to hear about it anymore and you can buy a boat!" Works for me! So our compromise is that he is allowed a boat after I get my dining room set!!!!! We'll see how soon this happens! But seriously, we have all this China and Crystal and it's all stored in a closet. That's no fun!
Well....I gotta get ready for the week but one last thought! I went to the grocery store this morning and saved $37.76 with coupons! I have gotten into the extreme coupon show and so I tried couponing just to see if I could save enough to make it worth it and I did! Almost 40 bucks!!! The girl at the store said to me, "Go head, gurfriend". Now can I do the extreme couponing, NO! I would have to quit my job for that but I'm all for the $37.76 I saved! Whoop Whoop! :)
So since I'm not traveling back and forth to Mississippi near as much anymore, Chris and I have been able to enjoy Houston a little more and actually do things! Where do I begin?
Amy and Lane got married 2 weekends ago and I got to go back to MS! It was fun going back even though Chris had to stay in Houston :(. Seems like we always have to separate for weddings. Anyways, the wedding was beautiful and very sweet. Everything was so dainty and pretty and Amy was gorge!!!
Then it was back to Houston and back to work. The next weekend my Mom finally came to visit! It was so great having her here and see how we live. It is a totally different world here and it was fun to take Mom around to see it all. I think she was overwhelmed by all the highways and interstates. Houston is definitely a concrete jungle! Oh, did I mention that in between all this Chris has been making me patio furniture and I have been painting it? He made 2 adirondack chairs, a table, and a bench! He's getting so handy! Here are some pics of our patio...I'm still working on pillows for the chairs so it's not completely finished.
Today we went to the Houston Zoo. It was part of Chris' birthday present so we spent the day there! So much fun and I loved going downtown and exploring! Here are some pics from the Zoo expedition!
Okay... so I am just now posting some pics from our honeymoon. I know, I know....it's been a month and a half but better late than never! Also, if you know me, which you should if you are reading this, I hardly took any pictures so what you see is what you get! I am so bad about taking pictures. I wish I had someone that would just follow me around to document important events in my life but you know...no paparazzi here! Done babbling now.... Enjoy!

I am originally from Tupelo, Mississippi, Birthplace of Elvis! After high school, I went to Ole Miss for undergrad and grad school! In May 2010, I made a big move to Houston, Texas!!!! I love Houston and the big city life but also miss Mississippi more than I thought I would! I have 3 dogs, Annie (I rescued her off the side of the road, she's my angel), Maggie (Chris and I got her together and she's such a momma's girl), and Mogli (The best little ball of furry fire you'll ever see, he's crazy).
